Thanks for confirming, and for reproducing it on VirtIO. For reference, my debug log does show many No modifiers available for format 1211384385 lines (and the ten No DRI config supports native format ... lines) right before the EGL_BAD_PARAMETER in eglGetPlatformDisplay.
I can attach the full debug journal, my standalone EGL test (egltest2.c, which gets a valid device in the same session) and the LD_PRELOAD shim, and I can test a patched package on this machine (RX 550, Ubuntu 26.04.1, GRD 50.2).
