I have opened this merge request upstream to allow implicit modifiers in the egl-thread: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-remote- desktop/-/merge_requests/443
But it has been pointed out to me that AVC is only supported through Vulkan, which by design cannot support implicit modifiers.
