On Noble, Resolute and Stonking
The kernel being used is generic so there is no issue there
** No longer affects: resource-agents (Ubuntu Noble)
** Changed in: resource-agents (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Invalid
** Changed in: resource-agents (Ubuntu Jammy)
Status: New => In Progress
** Description changed:
- The autopkgtests fails on Noble because of the missing kernel module
- iscsi_target_mod
+ [Impact]
+
+ The iscsi autopkgtest can fail on kernels that do not provide
+ iscsi_target_mod, such as the KVM kernel cited in the bug. The test then
+ cannot set up its iSCSI backstore, causing autopkgtest to fail even
+ though this is a test-environment limitation.
+
+ [Test Plan]
+
+ Run the iscsi autopkgtest on a non-generic kernel without
+ iscsi_target_mod, with autopkgtest reboot support enabled. Verify that
+ the test switches to linux-generic, reboots, loads the module, and
+ proceeds with the iSCSI tests. Also run it on a generic kernel where the
+ module is already available.
+
+ [Where problems could occur]
+
+ The change affects only the iSCSI autopkgtest setup, not resource-agent
+ runtime behavior. Risk is limited to the test environment: installing or
+ booting the generic kernel may fail, or the module may still be
+ unavailable after reboot. In those cases, the setup emits a warning and
+ the test continues, so the autopkgtest may still fail.
+
+ [Other Info]
+
+ This fix is marked to be blocked in -proposed
