Public bug reported:

Please remove zile 2.6.2-2build3 (source and binaries) from stonking-
proposed.

== Rationale ==

2.6.2-2build3 is a no-change mass rebuild (LP: #2132257). It builds on every
architecture except ppc64el, where it fails to build from source (last retry
2026-09-24):
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zile/2.6.2-2build3/+build/32794509

  /usr/include/powerpc64le-linux-gnu/bits/stdio-ldbl.h:42:1: error: return type
defaults to 'int' [-Wimplicit-int]
     42 | __LDBL_REDIR1_DECL (fscanf, __isoc23_fscanfieee128)

The toolchain (libc6-dev 2.44-1ubuntu1) now uses IEEE 128-bit long
double on ppc64el. zile bundles an old gnulib copy of lib/cdefs.h, which
gnulib's libc-config.h uses in place of glibc's <sys/cdefs.h>. That copy
predates glibc 2.32 and has no __LDOUBLE_REDIRECTS_TO_FLOAT128_ABI
branch, so __LDBL_REDIR1_DECL is undefined and lib/regex.c fails to
compile.

Removing build3 loses nothing:
- 2.6.2-2build2 remains in the stonking release pocket with working binaries on
all architectures, including ppc64el.
- Debian unstable has the same 2.6.2-2, so there is nothing newer to sync.

== Follow-up ==

The next rebuild of zile will fail the same way on ppc64el unless the
bundled gnulib is fixed first, e.g. by refreshing lib/cdefs.h (and
lib/libc-config.h) from current gnulib, or by adding the missing
__LDBL_REDIR1_DECL definition in lib/cdefs.h. Other packages bundling
pre-2020 gnulib with regex.c/libc-config.h may hit the same problem on
ppc64el.

     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
