Hey Benjamin,

Please read my responses inline:

----- Can you please verify the kernel version on your laptop?
* Kernel version on LAPTOP (uname -a):
Linux mlp 7.0.0-38-generic #38-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Fri Sep 4 09:10:14
UTC 2026 x86_64 GNU/Linux

* Kernel version on DESKTOP (uname -a):
Linux desktop 7.0.0-38-generic #38-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Fri Sep 4
09:10:14 UTC 2026 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Looks like they are the same.

----- did the trackpad work previously on the desktop?
* Yes and no, lemme explain. I think this was indeed a regression since the
trackpad used to 'work' in the previous LTS (24.04). That version used X as the
windowing system by default. There the trackpad used to work like a normal
mouse (No multitouch). If in that LST version you changed the windowing system
to wayland, then the trackpad used to work fully, multitoch and gestures
included.

Kind regards.
