I am experiencing a similar issue on my ASUS Vivobook S16 running Ubuntu 26.04.1, with the MediaTek MT7921E Wi-Fi driver.
After suspending the laptop and waking it up, Wi-Fi would fail to resume. I also experienced broader system problems: the laptop sometimes failed to shut down properly, and applications such as Terminal and Settings would not open or respond correctly after waking from suspend. My kernel logs showed errors including `driver own failed` and `pci_pm_resume returns -5`. I changed the default suspend mode from `s2idle` to `deep` by adding `mem_sleep_default=deep` to the GRUB kernel command line and running `sudo update-grub`. After rebooting, `/sys/power/mem_sleep` showed `s2idle [deep]`, confirming that deep sleep was selected by default. After this change, Wi-Fi worked after resuming from suspend. I also observed improvement in the broader system behavior. I am continuing to test whether the workaround is reliable across repeated suspend/resume cycles. My kernel version is 7.0.0-38-generic. I hope this additional information helps investigate the issue and identify a permanent fix. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2167384 Title: mt7921e / MT7920 [14c3:7920]: Wi-Fi fails after s2idle on ASUS S3607AA, applications and shutdown hang To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2167384/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
