Public bug reported: AI helped me analysing the issue, cause I am not a real linux expert ;-)
On Ubuntu 26.04.1 with systemd 259.5-0ubuntu3.4 and finalrd 9build2, every shutdown/reboot prints: “shutdown[1]: Failed to parse /proc/self/mountinfo: Operation not supported / Unable to unmount file systems / Cannot enumerate swap partitions, no libmount support.” Since systemd v259 (upstream issue systemd/systemd#40154), libmount is loaded via dlopen and is no longer a linked dependency of systemd-shutdown. /usr/bin/finalrd collects libraries via LD_TRACE_LOADED_OBJECTS, which does not list dlopen’ed libraries, so libmount.so.1 is not copied into /run/initramfs. Suggested fix: copy libmount.so.1 (and its dependencies) explicitly in finalrd. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=311120 https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/40154 Thank you in advance :-) Best regards, Markus ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 26.04 Package: finalrd 9build2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 7.0.0-113038.38tux1-tuxedo 7.0.14 Uname: Linux 7.0.0-113038-tuxedo x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.34.1-0ubuntu0.1 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: unknown CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sat Oct 17 18:10:47 2026 PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: finalrd UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to resolute on 2026-10-02 (15 days ago) modified.conffile..etc.default.apport: # set this to 0 to disable apport, or to 1 to enable it # you can temporarily override this with # sudo service apport start force_start=1 enabled=0 mtime.conffile..etc.default.apport: 2026-04-13T10:12:16.552933 ** Affects: finalrd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug resolute wayland-session -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2171302 Title: Shutdown issues On Ubuntu 26.04.1 with systemd 259.5-0ubuntu3.4 and finalrd 9build2, To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/finalrd/+bug/2171302/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
