Public bug reported:
The gfmd package in Ubuntu 22.04 (2.7.17+dfsg-1build2) does not ship
several files that config-gfarm and config-gfarm-update require, so a
Gfarm metadata server cannot be set up with the packaged tools.
Missing files (all present in the noble package 2.7.20+dfsg-1.1ubuntu1):
/usr/share/gfarm/config/config-gfarm.none
/usr/share/gfarm/config/config-gfarm-update.none
/usr/share/gfarm/config/gfarm.conf-none.in
/usr/share/gfarm/config/gfmd.failover.conf
/usr/share/gfarm/config/gfmd.failover.agent.conf
Steps to reproduce (fresh ubuntu:22.04):
# apt-get install gfmd
# config-gfarm -t -A ubuntu
/usr/bin/config-gfarm: 90: .: cannot open
/usr/share/gfarm/config/config-gfarm.none: No such file
config-gfarm sources config-gfarm.<backend> for every backend
(postgresql, ldap and none), so the missing config-gfarm.none breaks
it even when PostgreSQL is used. After creating an empty
config-gfarm.none, configuration still fails:
# config-gfarm -N -A ubuntu -P /usr/lib/postgresql/14
created /var/gfarm-pgsql
created /etc/gfarm2.conf
created /etc/gfmd.conf
cat: /usr/share/gfarm/config/gfmd.failover.conf: No such file or directory
config-gfarm: cannot create /etc/gfmd.failover.conf
config-gfarm failure
Upstream has installed these files since Gfarm 2.7.2 (2017). Debian
fixed debian/gfmd.install in 2.7.19+dfsg-1 ("Install missing files"),
so jammy is the only supported release still affected.
Please consider an SRU that adds the missing files to
debian/gfmd.install.
