Public bug reported:
The GNU coreutils version is getting behind the uutils coreutils version
in such a way that users on Ubuntu are getting a different experience,
depending on which provider of the coreutils they are using.
We should consider merging 9.12 into Ubuntu in order to eliminate this
discrepancy. This would mean going out-of-sync with Debian and we must
consider the pros/cons of this accordingly.
