** Description changed:

  Package: gnome-initial-setup 50.0-0ubuntu7.1 (Ubuntu 26.04 LTS)

  [ Impact ]

When there is no network connection, the last page of the welcome wizard
shows "All done!" with the "Downloading additional language packs"
spinner and a "Cancel Download" button, forever. Nothing is downloading.
The "Start Using Ubuntu" button only appears after the user clicks
  "Cancel Download".

  In gnome-initial-setup/pages/summary/gis-summary-page.ui, download_box
is the first child of status_stack, so the stack shows it by default.
gis_summary_page_shown() only touches the stack when
check_network_connection() returns TRUE; the offline branch never
  switches status_stack to start_box.

This hits every offline first boot: OEM installs, machines without
Ethernet whose Wi-Fi is not set up yet, and unattended installations
  from the Desktop ISO.

- gnome-initial-setup 51.0-0ubuntu1 in stonking already fixes it:
- start_box is the first child of status_stack since commit 2bf4b186
- ("d/p/u: Rework dynamic-lang support for new async save_data") on the
- ubuntu/latest branch of https://salsa.debian.org/gnome-team/gnome-
- initial-setup. The ubuntu/resolute branch (50.0-0ubuntu7.1) does not
- have it. That commit reworks the patch for the new async save_data of
- 51, so only its reordering of the two children in gis-summary-page.ui
- needs a backport to resolute.
+ This bug was already fixed in Stonking as part of a larger rework of the
+ page ("d/p/u: Rework dynamic-lang support for new async save_data").
+ Resolute is going to get a more targeted fix instead.

  [ Test Plan ]

  1. Install Ubuntu 26.04 Desktop with the following autoinstall so that
no user is configured and the welcome wizard runs at first boot:

  autoinstall:
    version: 1
    source:
      id: ubuntu-desktop-minimal
    storage:
      layout:
        name: lvm
    user-data:
      users: []

  2. When presented with the first-boot wizard, move to a different terminal
(for example, Ctrl+Alt+F3) or open a shell via ssh
  3. Install the gnome-initial-setup update:
- $ sudo apt install -t resolute-proposed gnome-initial-setup
+    $ sudo apt install -t resolute-proposed gnome-initial-setup
  4. Disconnect the network
  5. Reboot
  6. Go through the welcome wizard until the last page.
  7. Expected: "All done!" with the "Start Using Ubuntu" button.
Previous: "All done!" with the "Downloading additional language packs"
spinner and "Cancel Download", which never ends.

  [ Regression Test Plan ]

Repeat the Test Plan, but without disconnecting the network.
Verify that on the last page the language pack download runs as before.

[ Where problems could occur ]

- The change only reorders the two children of status_stack in the summary
- page UI file. The online path sets the visible child explicitly, so it
- should not change. A regression would show as the wrong box on the
- summary page: the start button while language packs are downloading, or
- the spinner after the download is done.
+ A regression would show as the wrong box on the summary page: the start
+ button while language packs are downloading, or the spinner after the
+ download is done.

  [ Other Info ]

Seen during unattended installations of the Ubuntu 26.04.1 Desktop ISO
with no network. journalctl shows that no check-language-support or apt-
get process is started: only the UI is stuck.
