Confirmed on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (simple-scan 48.1-0ubuntu3, GNOME Shell 50.1, Wayland). Document Scanner's window has the Wayland app ID org.gnome.SimpleScan, and nothing matches it: the launcher is simple- scan.desktop and has no StartupWMClass, so the dock shows a generic icon. A copy of the launcher in ~/.local/share/applications with StartupWMClass=org.gnome.SimpleScan added fixes it here, which is what the attached patch does.
Some context that may help: - Upstream renamed the file to org.gnome.SimpleScan.desktop in 49.0 (commit 87d40f27, "Rename desktop file to match with the application ID"). 48.1 still has data/simple-scan.desktop.in. - 26.10 and 27.04 have 50.0-2, which ships only org.gnome.SimpleScan.desktop, so they aren't affected. Among supported releases, only 26.04 LTS is. - For 26.04, the attached one-line patch looks like a safer fix than backporting the rename: GNOME Shell looks up saved dock favorites by file name, so a renamed file would drop out of favorites that list simple-scan.desktop. - Bug 2152933 (Confirmed, 4 users affected, with its own duplicate 2165316) reports the same problem on 26.04 and could be marked a duplicate of this one. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2137384 Title: .desktop file is missing StartupWMClass entry To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/simple-scan/+bug/2137384/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
