Also verified on ThinkPad X9-14 Gen 1 (21QA), linux 7.0.0-39.39: the
duplicate SONY471A / -EEXIST failure is gone, IPU7 probes and imx471
binds. On 7.0.0-38 the failed IPU7 probe also caused imx471 oopses at
boot (use-after-free in imx471_check_hwcfg), which I had worked around
by blacklisting imx471.

On the green output, I can confirm it’s in CamHAL, not the kernel
switch. SW_CAMERA_LENS_COVER (EV_SW code 9) on “ThinkPad Extra Buttons”
toggles correctly on every F9 press, and EVIOCGSW matches. CamHAL’s
InputEventMonitor picks the right device (“Use /dev/input/event9 for
event type 5 code 9”). But even with the switch reading open it takes
“CameraDevice: switchToBackup” and outputs FileSource/dummy frames
(“Cannot open frame file: /etc/camera/ipu7x/dummy_1280x720.nv12”).
Setting privacyShutterEventType/Code to -1 in imx471-uf.json gives a
normal image. Package: libcamhal-ipu7x
0~git202604141000.58e6f01-1~ubuntu26.04.1 (source ipu7-camera-hal).
