Correction: the laptop is usually connected to a TV over HDMI (EDID “Beyond TV”, 1920x1080, connected at the time of the crashes). The monitor-reconfiguration bursts are therefore most likely HDMI hotplug pulses from the TV (standby / CEC / input switching), not spurious events from the kernel on the internal panel. The crash then matches mutter issue #3402 (stale logical monitor after a display disappears). Under Xorg (since 2026-10-24) no crashes so far; on Xorg, redraw artifacts appear when the HDMI display is switched on. I’m now testing with the HDMI cable unplugged overnight and will report back.
