TL;DR: debian/rules line 57 still passes "--disable-fuse" on every architecture
-
only the "#ifeq (hurd,...)" and "#endif" guard lines were commented out, not the
switch itself - so the build ends up with "--enable-fuse ... --disable-fuse".
Re-enabling FUSE (patch below) fixes both drive redirection and clipboard file
paste; verified by rebuilding the resolute package on 26.04.1.

Confirmed on Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS (resolute) with xrdp 0.10.1-4.1ubuntu0.1
(resolute-updates, published 2026-10-08); client: Royal TS / mstsc.

Same root cause as described, but the impact is a bit wider: it does not only
break drive redirection, it also breaks pasting files that were copied in the
RDP client.

Symptoms seen on the affected machine:

1. Redirected drives never appear. chansrv detects them, but nothing is
mounted:

     $ grep "remote drive" ~/.local/share/xrdp/xrdp-chansrv.10.log
     [INFO ] Detected remote drive 'C:'
     [INFO ] Detected remote drive 'D:'
     ...
     $ mountpoint ~/thinclient_drives
     /home/<user>/thinclient_drives is not a mountpoint

2. Copying a file in the client and pasting it inside the session fails with
   "The file or folder /<basename> does not exist". Reason: with XRDP_FUSE
   disabled, g_fuse_clipboard_path stays empty (chansrv_fuse.c:
   "char g_fuse_clipboard_path[256] = \"\";" plus a stub section
   "#ifndef XRDP_FUSE" in which xfuse_add_clip_dir_item() just returns 0), and
   clipboard_c2s_in_files() in clipboard_file.c composes the URI as
   "file://" + g_fuse_clipboard_path + "/" + filename, i.e. "file:///filename".

The root cause is in the packaging, not upstream: debian/rules, lines
55-58

    #ifeq (hurd,${DEB_HOST_ARCH_OS})
    # fuse_lowlevel.h is not yet usable
    CONFIGURE_ARGS+=    --disable-fuse
    #endif

Only the "#ifeq" and "#endif" lines were commented out, while the
"--disable-fuse" line itself is still active on every architecture. It is
appended after the explicit "--enable-fuse" of override_dh_auto_configure, and
autoconf honours the last occurrence, so the final build really uses both
switches - which is visible in "xrdp -v":

    Configure options: --enable-ipv6 --enable-jpeg --enable-fuse ...
    --enable-vsock ... --with-socketdir=/run/xrdp/sockdir --disable-fuse

Minimal fix (fuse 2.9.9 / libfuse-dev is still available in 26.04, and
/usr/bin/fusermount is a symlink to fusermount3, which works fine for
unprivileged mounts):

How I verified the fix: I rebuilt the resolute source package with only those
two changes (no upstream change at all) and installed it on the affected
machine. Same version string, only the build content differs:

    $ ldd /usr/sbin/xrdp-chansrv | grep fuse
            libfuse.so.2 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfuse.so.2
    $ mount | grep thinclient
    xrdp-chansrv on /home/<user>/thinclient_drives type fuse.xrdp-chansrv
(rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,user_id=1000,group_id=1000)
    $ ls ~/thinclient_drives
    C:  D:  E:  I:  J:  K:  L:  S:  .clipboard

Both drive redirection and pasting single files from the client clipboard work
again. (Pasting directories is still not supported via the clipboard - that is
xrdp design, not a bug.)

Side note for reference: Ubuntu 26.10 (tenacious) ships xrdp 0.10.6.1-2ubuntu1,
built against libfuse3 (the packaged xrdp-chansrv links libfuse3.so.4), so the
problem does not exist there. As 26.04 is an LTS and stays on 0.10.1, a version
jump is probably not SRU material - the one-line re-enable above would be.

I am happy to test a proposed/SRU build on this 26.04.1 installation.
