Potential regression: libvirt RBD storage pools on noble
Upstream Ceph 19.2.6 removed the deprecated config option
"auth_supported" (ceph commit 350cc71d). The 19.2.6-0ubuntu0.24.04.1
package in noble-proposed does not carry a compatibility patch for it.
libvirt's RBD storage backend (storage_backend_rbd.c) still calls
rados_conf_set("auth_supported", ...) and treats the failure as fatal.
The current noble libvirt (10.0.0-2ubuntu8.19) has no patch for this.
As a result, once librados2 is upgraded to 19.2.6, starting a libvirt
RBD storage pool fails with:
internal error: failed to set RADOS option: auth_supported
This breaks e.g. Apache CloudStack KVM hosts using Ceph RBD primary
storage, as reported on other distributions:
https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/issues/13989
Upstream libvirt has since replaced the option with
auth_client_required (libvirt commit 3af8cc5). Proxmox worked around
the same issue by restoring auth_supported in their Ceph build.
This is based on source inspection; we have not yet tested the
proposed package. Could you please either backport the libvirt fix to
noble or carry a patch restoring auth_supported in ceph, before
releasing 19.2.6 to noble-updates/noble-security?
