[Variabnt of this bug: libcamera 0.7.0 aborts (std::array<unsigned int,
64> out-of-range assertion) on ov08x40/IPU7 for any stream size below
full resolution, crashing PipeWire]

I have a not identical, but maybe related bug, with libcamera 0.7.0 and
the same sensor. I tried yesterday (with the help of Claude Opus 5.5 and
a very long conversation) to have my camera ipu7 work on a "Dell Inc.
Dell Pro 13 Premium PA13250" with ubuntu 26.04 with 7.0.0-1017-oem
kernel. The camera is now functional but 1) linux-modules-vision-
oem-26.04 should be default in the kernel 2) there seems to be a bug in
v4l2 which makes pipewire and hence also snapshop not functional
[gstreamer works at 30 FPS] and 3) there is a libcamera issue which also
crashes pipewire and is maybe related to this one. I copy-paste the
report prepared by Claude, which faithfully reports what "we" observed:

Title: libcamera 0.7.0 aborts (std::array<unsigned int, 64> out-of-range
assertion) on ov08x40/IPU7 for any stream size below full resolution,
crashing PipeWire

Hardware: Dell Pro 13 Premium (PA13250), Intel Lunar Lake, IPU7, OmniVision
OV08X40 sensor (ACPI OVTI08F4) behind the Intel CVS companion (INTC10DE) on a
Synaptics SVP7500 USBIO bridge (06cb:0701).
Software: Ubuntu 26.04, kernel 7.0.0-1017-oem, libcamera 0.7.0-1ubuntu2, Mesa
26.0.8, PipeWire 1.6.2-1ubuntu1.2.

The camera is handled by the simple pipeline handler with the software ISP and
works at full resolution:
  gst-launch-1.0 libcamerasrc ! capsfilter
caps=video/x-raw,width=3840,height=2160 ! videoconvert ! autovideosink
  -> configuring streams: (0) 3840x2160-ABGR8888/sRGB, ~30 fps, no error.

Any smaller size aborts on the first frame:
  gst-launch-1.0 libcamerasrc ! capsfilter
caps=video/x-raw,width=1920,height=1080 ! videoconvert ! autovideosink
  INFO Camera camera.cpp:1215 configuring streams: (0) 1920x1080-ABGR8888/sRGB
  INFO IPASoft soft_simple.cpp:258 IPASoft: Exposure 4-4436, gain 128-1984 (1)
  /usr/include/c++/15/array:210: ... [with _Tp = unsigned int; long unsigned
int _Nm = 64; ...]: Assertion '__n < this->size()' failed.
  Aborted (core dumped)

Notes:
- Same crash with LIBCAMERA_SOFTISP_MODE=cpu (no EGL initialisation), so it is
not specific to the GPU ISP.
- The exposure range differs (4-4436 vs 4-4992 at full resolution): a
different, probably binned, sensor mode is selected for smaller sizes, and the
crash seems tied to that mode. The 64-entry unsigned int array suggests an
out-of-range histogram/statistics index in the software ISP.
- Impact: when an application (e.g. GNOME Snapshot) opens the camera through
PipeWire, the PipeWire daemon aborts with SIGABRT ("pipewire.service: Failed
with result 'core-dump'"), so the built-in camera is unusable in all PipeWire
applications.
- libcamera also reports: "Failed to retrieve the sensor crop rectangle / The
sensor kernel driver needs to be fixed", "No static properties available for
'ov08x40'", "IPASoft: Failed to create camera sensor helper for ov08x40",
"FrameDurationLimits not found in camera controls". Possibly related.

Expected: smaller stream sizes work, or are rejected cleanly, instead of
aborting the process.
