Also affected. Same package update (linux-firmware-amd-graphics 3.3 → 3.4 on 2026-11-04) on Linux Mint 22 (Ubuntu noble base), kernel 7.0.0-42-generic. GPU is an RX 9060 XT (PCI 1002:7590, RDNA4), so this affects a second card in the family besides the reporter’s 9070 XT.
After the update the system froze with audio looping on a single note. Every boot afterwards failed, including with an older kernel, and only nomodeset would boot. Kernel log from the first failed boot: amdgpu 0000:0b:00.0: [drm] Loading DMUB firmware via PSP: version=0x07002F00 amdgpu 0000:0b:00.0: failed to load ucode DMCUB(0x3F) amdgpu 0000:0b:00.0: [drm] Wait for DMUB auto-load failed: 3 amdgpu 0000:0b:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* dc_dmub_srv_log_diagnostic_data: DMCUB error - collecting diagnostic data amdgpu 0000:0b:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* Error queueing DMUB command: status=2 After downgrading to 3.3 (installed from the superseded build on Launchpad) and rebuilding the initramfs for all kernels, the system boots normally, and the log shows: amdgpu 0000:0b:00.0: [drm] Loading DMUB firmware via PSP: version=0x0A000800 amdgpu 0000:0b:00.0: [drm] DMUB hardware initialized: version=0x0A000800 This suggests the DMCUB firmware changes in 3.4 are responsible. I’ve put the package on hold at 3.3. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2173043 Title: Latest update to linux-firmware-amd-graphics is incompatible with rx9070xt.
