Public bug reported:
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a window, for example Google Chrome or the default Ubuntu terminal.
2. Move the window from the right external monitor (DP-7) to the left external
monitor (DP-5) with Super+Shift+Left.
3. Click another window so the moved window loses focus.
Expected result: The window stays on the monitor I moved it to.
Actual result: The window jumps back to the monitor it started on.
The bug occurs with the Tiling Assistant extension enabled and with it disabled.
I can reproduce it [every time / about X out of 10 times].
I also tested a second sequence: I started with the window on the built-in
display,
moved it to the right external monitor, and then to the left external monitor,
all
with keyboard shortcuts. The window jumped back to the right external monitor
after
losing focus. Moving windows between the built-in display and an external
monitor
works correctly. I only see the bug between the two external monitors.
Setup:
I run a Wayland session on a Framework Laptop with Intel Meteor Lake-P graphics
(i915 driver, no other GPU). Three monitors are connected, all at scale 1.0:
- DP-5: Dell P2725DE, 2560x1440, top left
- DP-7: Dell P2725D, 2560x1440, top right
- eDP-1: built-in panel, 2256x1504, below the external monitors, primary
The P2725DE connects to the laptop over USB-C and acts as the hub. The P2725D is
probably daisy-chained from it over DisplayPort MST. I inferred this from the
connector numbering and have not verified it. DisplayLink and Thunderbolt are
not
in use.
The two external monitors have nearly identical model names (P2725DE and
P2725D).
This may matter if Mutter identifies monitors by name when it restores window
positions.
