I doubt Ubuntu can/will do anything about this. I don't see support for the ITE8696 in latest kernel. ITE is not known to be friendly to open- source in terms of giving code or datasheets.
Your best bet is probably the repo from Frank Crawford, which can be installed like: sudo apt install build-essential linux-headers-$(uname -r) dkms git cd ~/ && git clone https://github.com/frankcrawford/it87.git && cd it87/ sudo ./dkms-install.sh echo "options it87 mmio=on" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/it87.conf echo "it87" | sudo tee /etc/modules-load.d/it87.conf sudo update-initramfs -u -k all (Reboot) Check output of: sensors But I don't think it has fan control support. Are you running the latest BIOS? ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2173636 Title: ITE Super I/O chip (IDs 0x8696 / 0x8883) unsupported on Gigabyte X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7, causing sensor read-out failures and erratic maximum fan speed behavior To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2173636/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
