Hi,
I am running Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty)
I experienced the same bug when I installed a soundcard (Audigy SE) few days
ago. Before that, evolution had worked ok for several months.
Today, I started evolution with option --disable-eplugin caldav. I saw a
different error report:

~$ evolution --disable-eplugin caldav
(evolution-2.10:11006): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: instance of invalid
non-instantiatable type `(null)'

(evolution-2.10:11006): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_connect_data:
assertion `G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed

(evolution-2.10:11006): evolution-shell-WARNING **: Invalid URI: caldav
calendar-gui-Message: launch_alarm_daemon_cb(): Child process did not give an
error message, unknown failure occurred
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

!!! But I saw a dialog box appear for a very short moment. I tried the same
command again.
And this time, NO SEGMENTATION FAULT occurred!!!

~$ evolution --disable-eplugin caldav

(evolution-2.10:11040): evolution-shell-WARNING **: Invalid URI: caldav

(evolution-2.10:11040): e-data-server-WARNING **: Could not open
converter for '238' to 'UTF-8' charset

A dialog box showed up, asking for POP server password. I entered it and
evolution works fine again, even without options.
I hope this might help you fix the bug. Good luck!
