The solution / workaround. Change the line (at bootup) linux (hd0,1)/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-8-generic root=/dev/hda1 ro. Change /dev/hda1 to /dev/sda1. I'm going to go back to grub 1 and see if I still get this error.
Also of note: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/boot/grub$ sudo update-grub2 grub-probe: error: Cannot get the real path of `/dev/hda' Another note: the file grub.cfg says to not change it yet there is nowhere else to change this.. I have attached the usual kernel debug requests as I finally got it to boot. ** Attachment added: "dmesg.log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/12072572/dmesg.log -- [Hardy] 2.6.24-8 Doesn't boot while -7 does https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/192247 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
