As indicated in the comments, this was fixed in ALSA 1.0.14. Hardy now
uses ALSA 1.0.16, which includes the same fix. I'm going to mark this
as Fix Released. If you continue to have any problems with Hardy (or a
later release), feel free to re-open this bug.
