I installed voluemid, libvolume-id0, and udev from gutsy-proposed. My
initial testing shows it's working well for me.

For others getting this to work, add the following lines to your
/etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu gutsy-proposed main restricted universe
multiverse
deb-src http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu gutsy-proposed main restricted
universe multiverse

Then run:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install volumeid libvolume-id0 udev

In my case, I removed the extra lines from sources.list and reran "sudo
apt-get update" so that update-manager would stop asking me to install other
packages from proposed.
