Could you please recheck this issue with a Live CD. The best would be to
test it at first with Ubuntu Hardy Alpha 5 Live CD
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/hardy/alpha-5/ and if it works maybe
recheck it with the Kubuntu one .
