Hi Colin, I have no problem with closing this bug against the kernel package as 'Won't Fix'. But this tweak should be documented somewhere, in a troubleshooting section of the documentation, otherwise we'll have some other people hitting it and not knowing what to do.
On the other hand, the kernel/distro config should do the right thing and on large machines, with the 'server' kernel, the default for the kernel parameter should be automatically increased - to avoid this problem. I'm sure most admins won't notice or mind 'losing' 32 or 48MB to a 'safe pool' but many will be pissed to see the kernel oopses in the logs, and erode their confidence in Linux just another teeny bit. Thanks for looking into it, florin -- oops in Hardy Heron -server kernel, with md-lvm-xfs-nfs4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/198357 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
