Allso happens to me, when trying to access "CD-RW/DVD+-RW Drive" from
Places menu. Allso Gnome doesn't auto-mount dvd's for me, but sees them
when I mount them manually. I have
/dev/scd0 /media/cdrom udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0
in fstab. After manual mount, Places menu has allso "cdrom" which I can
then access.
