I have a scanner now, and when I plug it in, g-v-m says:

scanner.device property: No property scanner.device on device with id
/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_4a9_221c_noserial_if0
Indeed this property does not exist, and it doesn't actually need to
know. Checking the 'scanner' capability should be enough.
