** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: libclutter-0.4

Proposed changes: This is a bug created for Feature Freeze Exception, to
request that the clutter libraries be updated from v0.4 to v0.6. These include:
clutter ( 0.4.2-1 already in gutsy. 0.6.0-2 in Debian unstable)
clutter-gst ( 0.4.0-2 already in gutsy, 0.6.1-1 in Debian unstable)
clutter-gtk ( 0.4.0-1 already in gutsy, 0.6.0-2 in Debian unstable)
clutter-cairo ( 0.4.0 already in gutsy, 0.6.0-1 in Debian unstable)
pyclutter ( 0.4.2-1 already in gutsy, 0.6.0-1 in Debian unstable)
clutter-perl ( 0.4.1-2 already in gutsy, 0.6.0.0-1 in Debian unstable)

The new versions of these projects are already in the Debian unstable
  repository:

  http://packages.debian.org/search?suite=sid&searchon=names&keywords=clutter

Potential impact on the distribution: The only other package that
- depends on clutter-0.4 is moblin-clutter-home, however I am the author
- of that and can update it to depend on 0.6 to coincide with the update
- of licclutter.
+ depends on clutter-0.4 is moblin-media-0.25. I can try to and provide a
+ patch for that, or the latest version (0.41) doesn't actually use
+ Clutter.

A rationale for the exception / benefit of the change: The ubuntu-mobile
currently makes use of libclutter-0.6 in existing and under-development
projects. The inability to use the latest Clutter library will mean many
compromises to what can be achieved, especially on touch-screen based
systems, as it brings with it many improvements to the event model. An
advantage to having Clutter 0.6 is that we can show potential customers
what can be achieved with Ubuntu Mobile, with things like touch-based
UI's, OpenGL shader support, scriptable UI's etc.

The desktop team has also expressed interest in using clutter for future
projects, and commentated on the benefits of being able to develop
hardy+1 applications on a stable hardy platform. It will also make it
much easier for users to test out these new applications. The upgraded
clutter includes better Gtk integration, which will be essential for the
  desktop applications.

Attached to this bug are files for each of the 4 projects above.
    <pkg>-diffstat.txt (from 0.4 to 0.6)
    <pkg>-changelog.diff
    <pkg>-NEWS
    <pkg>-pbuilder.log

(I was unable to build clutter-perl in pbuilder, I have attached the log
file. I could not debug it due to my inexperience with packaging and/or
perl, so if someone else could give it a go, that would be great)
