As I sometimes use my wired interface, this is not a good workaround for me. Instead I have added e1000 to MODULES_WHITELIST in /etc/default/acpi-support. While this works and I am able suspend/resume, NetworkManager sees my wifi (ipw2200) as a wired interface upon resume. If, and only if, I was connected to a open AP, the connection is restored, but I can't change AP since NM sees the interface as wired. Encrypted APs can't be restored.
