I have forced the system to use i810 driver by adding the line Driver "i810" to the Devices section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. Now my system works as expected. The same hack had worked for gutsy as well. (See my post submitted on 2007-11-01 above for the changes after using this driver.)
As far as I understand, "i810" and "intel" drivers (drivers sets???) are alternatives to each other. Although i915 is stil used according to lsmod, I think this the one provided by the i810 driver set and replaced the one from the intel driver set. The i810 drivers appear to be more stable than the intel drivers. By the way, the Screens and Graphics tool can't change drivers. It is also misplaced in the menu. It is under Applications > Other instead of System > Administration. -- [Gutsy] Toshiba U200 random crashes on shutdown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/150943 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
