I have been using "ugly workaround" (-B 254) since Hardy Alpha5. Recently - with Beta, I tried hibernation on my laptop. After resuming disk head was ticking again and the Load_Cycle_Count started increasing. I checked and /etc/acpi/resume.d/<script> was still there along with others... but apparently had not been read during resume. Looks like the bug is still there in Hardy beta.
