Thank you very much for the reply.  My apologies for not doing my
research, and finding the bug policy.  I'm always glad to help with
these sorts of things.

Per your suggestion, I upgraded to the latest kernel, as well as a whole
assortment of other upgrades from the prerelease category, and although
it fixed a few of the other issues, the standby problem is the same as
before.  At least I can play flash video without stuttering now.  I'm
attaching the logs requested, from here and the policy page you linked.
I'll also attempt to get the dmesg output from a suspend cycle later
today.

Since it seems we can only attach one file per message, this one
contains version.log.
