My dmesg output was much the same as the above, though my device
appeared as sdc1. gnome-mount produces the same result:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gnome-mount -vbd /dev/sdc1 
gnome-mount 0.8
** Message: Given device '/dev/sdc1' is not a volume or a drive.

The device definitely does exist though:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ls -la /dev/sdc1 
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 33 2008-04-16 06:28 /dev/sdc1

Mounting it manually using "mount" or "pmount" works exactly as
expected.
