I'm not seeing this as well. Here's my workflow...

Copy /etc/group, /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow to /root.
Run users-admin from the xfce4 menu.
Click unlock, and unlock as a LDAP user (since no local ones exist).
Hit Manage Groups
Properties on the admin group (in which a LDAP user should be a part of).
Notice that the user is not listed there.
Hit OK.
Hit Close.
Hit Close to close out of users-admin all together.

My LDAP user is now no longer listed anywhere in /etc/group.
