I don't know if this is the same bug, but I've had kwin leaking memory since
the upgrade to KDE 4.0.4. It makes they system unusable after a few hours
until I can restart kwin:
kwin --replace if I can get to a konsole, or
killall kwin
DISPLAY=:0 kwin
if I can only get to a TTY. This will start kwin from KDE3. Starting
kwin/KDE4 from a TTY seems to have issues.
