The kde 4.0.4 release was tagged, but the version number was not updated by
accident. This was corrected, but the kubuntu build had already started, so
they missed this fix. You are running 4.0.4, but without the version number
being bumped.
The bugs seem to be only really related to konqueror with text boxes and
other input boxes. They do not seem to effect my computer very much,
and I find it hard to reproduce, so you may not be affected as badly as
others. (see screenshot attached to bug number #228710, which this has
been marked a duplicate of)
Do not worry about the version number in the applications, just what the
update manager says, for now.
