Perhaps this is the same as the bug numbered 200337. For the dvd burning problem is with dvd+rw-tools.
I had different but similar problems in 64 and 32 bit hardy. I am sure this problem did not exist with edgy (32 and 64bit). I'm pretty sure 32 bit feisty was fine.
