I am experiencing the same problem with a slight difference. In the box "Write to CD" I choose "Selected Images" and click "OK". Nothing happens. The box stays there, I can click "OK" forever without any result. When I select the other option in the aforementioned box, "Current Folder" and click "OK", I got the annoying Error box with the microsoftish message: "Could not move the items: Invalid parameters". In other words, I cannot transfer my pictures to CD using gThumb (and Ubuntu, for that matter). Could somebody help me?
