this patch gives me the option to set the device to /dev/dv1394/0 but with the camera playback rolling, there is still no capture, even when run as root.

Use raw1394 instead. and lspci says 03:01.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Ricoh Co Ltd R5C832 IEEE 1394 Controller (rev 05) -- [gutsy/hardy] Kino can't capture video https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152392 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
