No, this isn't a proper comparison. If you *download* a file, firefox
behaves exactly like wget. What we are talking about is the case where
you tell firefox to *open* the file, i.e. act as a viewer.

I am sorry, but I can not agree with this. If something "costs a few
data losses" it can never be a viable option, no matter how happy it
may make how many people.

He files a bug for the respective application, it gets fixed at some
point, and he lives happily ever after.
