It seems that my problem and the problem of xandl12 are not related. xandl12 his problem was that the 'p4-clockmod module' is not loaded automatically when the system starts.
In my case it tries to load the speedstep_centrino module (ok) but it fails. # sudo modprobe speedstep-centrino FATAL: Error inserting speedstep_centrino (/lib/modules/2.6.17-10-386/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/speedstep-centrino.ko): No such device # dmesg | tail -1 [17369756.408000] acpi_cpufreq: Unknown symbol cpu_online_map ** Summary changed: - files in directory /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/ not available + speedstep-centrino module fails to load -- speedstep-centrino module fails to load https://launchpad.net/bugs/66812 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
