Further to my comment above I have found that using 'File' > 'Quit' or
the Ctrl-Q shortcut to close down FF3 preserves the tabs as expected.
However, using the [X] 'Close Window' button on the window frame does
not preserve the tabs.

Returning to the clean profile all three methods of closing FF3 preserve
the tabs as expected.

Back again to my main profile and disabling all add-ons and I find that
the window button still does not restore the tabs the next time 'round.
Right-clicking on the taskbar and selecting 'Close' is the same (i.e.:
tabs are not preserved).

I'll just have to get into the habit of using Ctrl+Q to close FF3 for
now?
