OK, I did what you said for the ~/.evolution/mail/local directory but
the missing mails didn't appear.

It's extremly strange, I know. Here I can show you exactly what I mean:

I went into my Ubuntu folder within Evolution and took a screenshot of
all the mails concerning this bug report. As you can see in the attached
file only four emails are listed. However, when looking at the Ubuntu
mailbox file and getting out the last 400 lines there are 6 emails -
your first two mails are missing, but not the newest one! (this also
shows that the filters still work correctly - at least in this case)

So you really have to trust me, I'm not fooling around, I'd love to use
my time for more productive work... I use Evolution since the early
Ubuntu days (more than 3 years ago) but have never seen such a thing.

Let's hope you can find this nasty bug - or give me a hint what I did
wrong!
