Thanks for your report. It's possible that this is due to a hard disk
problem, although it's hard to tell from these log messages:
Oct 12 19:12:23 ubuntu kernel: [17180855.336000] EXT2-fs error (device sda3):
ext2_new_block: Allocating block in system zone - block = 196610
Oct 12 19:12:57 ubuntu kernel: [17180888.992000] EXT2-fs error (device sda3):
ext2_new_block: Allocating block in system zone - block = 327682
Oct 12 19:14:05 ubuntu kernel: [17180957.276000] EXT2-fs error (device sda3):
ext2_new_block: Allocating block in system zone - block = 557058
Oct 12 19:15:14 ubuntu kernel: [17181026.336000] EXT2-fs error (device sda3):
ext2_new_block: Allocating block in system zone - block = 491522
Oct 12 19:15:49 ubuntu kernel: [17181060.540000] init_special_inode: bogus
i_mode (400)
In any case, the Edgy installer (ubiquity 1.1.19 and newer) ignores this
particular error, as it really isn't important, so that fixes this bug.
