I don't think that this hasn't to do anything with keytouch (which is
the duplicate for this bug). I don't have it installed and I still have
the problem as described above.
I try to logout, restart or shutdown and then the screen will go black
after most stuff has been terminated. When I press ctrl+alt+del the
computer starts rattling for a bit and suddenly the console (ctrl+alt+F1
thing) appears and it mentions something about KDM (can't read it, gone
too fast, but there is something with a PID involved). Repeat: just
start up and logout, restart or shutdown, that'll do it.
My guess is that it has to do with fglrx and KDM or so. Reasoning why:
when I had Gutsy and tried to install a specific fglrx version (I think
ATI drivers 8.3 or so) the problems would appear. Reverting back to a
lower version resolved the problem. In Hardy I haven't tried older
versions, since I need a higher version for skype (still a problem ;),
but not for you guys) and the older versions don't support Hardy.
My setup: Hardy 8.04.1 over a Gutsy setup. 2.6.24-19-generic (but
happened from the one delivered with Hardy) on a Dell Inspiron 8600 with
an ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 Series (I actually have the 9600).
