Lets see. This problem has existed in Hardy since the first Alpha. It is
still not fixed.
Reading and burning DVD media is unreliable in Ubuntu Hardy. That is a fact.
I don't think it will be fixed in Hardy.
I think they are waiting to see if its fixed upstream or in Ibex. I dont think
the ability to read or burn
DVDs is a priority for the Ubuntu people. I guess once you can browse the web
then it works good enough.
But hey its free and u didnt have to pay for it so why complain?
I for one will not install Ubuntu Hardy on ANY more customers PCs until this
FUNDAMENTAL problem is fixed.
I am installing PClinuxOS which works fine. And have installed it on 23 PCs
so far none exhibit this problem.
So I will keep doing that until the Ubuntu people decide to make this
problem,.. (a problem that has existed for
several months), a priority.
