Since hardy, I only use alternates for install. So I do not know, but I will setup a VM soon and have a look if the "remaining time" is now readable. Also, it always depends: now my internet is 10x faster than when I reported the bug. But still. I think it is a good idea to make every box resizable by default, so that if a message in an "exotic" language is too long, one can still read it.
** Summary changed: - [gutsy] RC Remaining time for language pack download not possible during install + [gutsy] Remaining time for language pack download at install not readable ** Description changed: - When installing in safe graphics mode, in German translation the message - "Sprachpakete werden heruntergeladen" (downloading language packs) the - remaining time is shown in brackets. However the string is too long and - the box is NOT resizable in the lower right corner, hence the remaining - time is not readable. + ISSUE: + When installing Ubuntu gutsy in safe graphics mode, the message "downloading language packs" is shown. In German this is like "Sprachpakete werden heruntergeladen". In many languages the string might be longer than in English. During the download, the remaining time is shown in brackets. However the string is too long to fit into the box and the box showing the message is NOT resizable in the lower right corner, hence the remaining time is not readable, outside of the box. - Suggest inserting a newline between String message and "(xx:xx - remaining)" - - FCK: ther should be a "not possible to read" in the title instead of - "not possible" anyone can change that? + suggested SOLUTION: + Inserting a newline "\n" between String message and "(xx:xx remaining)" and/or make the box resizable/larger. ** Tags added: download installation language livecd localization -- [gutsy] Remaining time for language pack download at install not readable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/153422 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
