I can confirm the bug. I spent hours this afternoon trying to configure a HP LaserJet 1300 (connected to the local parallel port) in Dapper. Things I did include:
1. Trying the hpijs 0.9.7 driver and the recommended postscript driver. 2. Adding and configuring using the "Printing" Administration tool and the cups web administration interface <http://localhost:631>. Finally, I googled out this post <http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=185911>.
