Hi again, thanks for your response. I've since worked around the problem by performing a fresh install of hardy. The bug is in the upgrade from feisty to hardy.
So what is it exactly you want me to do. A fresh install of Interpeid (which I am sure will work) or an upgrade from Hardy to Interpeid to see if the bug in the upgrade process persists.
