I am using kubuntu 8.04. I think I have a similar problem. I am using
firefox3 and I've tried firefox-3.0-gnome-support. After that I was able
to see some records in Edit->Preferences->Applications but after
selecting "always ask" for pdf files and restarted firefox, it continues
to use kpdf. the record in Edit->Preferences->Applications is still set
to "always ask". I also tried to change
browser.helperApps.alwaysAsk.force in about:config to "TRUE" but nothing
changed.
